The Single-Source Fallacy
For decades, the hospitality industry has treated the Point of Sale system as the ultimate source of truth. If you want to forecast next week's sales, you look at last week's POS data, or the POS data from the same week last year.
This is the Single-Source Fallacy. Relying purely on historical POS data to forecast the future is like driving a car while only looking in the rearview mirror. It works fine on a straight, empty road, but it results in a crash the moment the environment changes.
Multi-Variate Forecasting
True intelligence requires overlapping disparate datasets. The real world is noisy, complex, and driven by external variables that a POS system cannot see.
When OPPI forecasts tomorrow's lunch rush, it doesn't just look at last Tuesday's sales. It ingests a massive matrix of overlapping telemetry:
- Meteorological Data: Tomorrow's temperature, humidity, and rain probability.

- Foot Traffic Telemetry: Live cellular mobility data indicating the density of pedestrians in the immediate 500-meter radius.
- Macro-Economic Indicators: Is it the end of the month before payday?
