Spatial Telemetry
A Point of Sale system is a ledger of transactions. It knows exactly when a table was seated (if the host remembered to tap the button) and exactly when the bill was paid.
What it doesn't know is physical reality. It doesn't know how long the table sat empty and dirty before being bussed. It doesn't know how long guests waited with empty glasses before a waiter approached. It doesn't know if the pass is bottlenecked because of slow food running or slow cooking.
To truly optimise a venue, you need to understand the physics of the floor.
Bridging the Digital and Physical
By integrating IoT sensors, ambient acoustic monitors, and privacy-first computer vision telemetry, OPPI bridges the gap between digital transactions and physical reality.
This isn't about surveilling staff; it's about passively measuring flow.
When spatial telemetry is layered over POS data, entirely new dimensions of intelligence are unlocked:
- True Table Turn Rates: We stop measuring from "Order Sent" to "Payment," and start measuring from "Guests Seated" to "Table Reset." This exposes the hidden dead-time in service that costs venues thousands in lost covers.
- Atmospheric Optimisation: Acoustic sensors detect when ambient noise levels cross the threshold where guests have to shout. The OS can autonomously lower the background music or alert a manager.
- Bottleneck Identification: By tracking movement at the pass, OPPI can identify if the kitchen bottleneck is a production issue (chefs are behind) or an expedition issue (runners aren't moving food fast enough).
Real-Time Floor Management
When OPPI understands the physics of the floor, it can act as an omniscient host.
If the computer vision telemetry notes that three tables are currently waiting for the bill, and the reservations API knows a party of 10 is arriving in 15 minutes, OPPI can send a silent nudge to the floor manager's smartwatch: "Prioritise bussing tables 41, 42, and 44. Large party arriving in 15m."
This is the future of floor management: data-driven, spatially aware, and incredibly proactive. By tracking the physical movement of the venue, we eliminate the blind spots that digital-only systems suffer from, creating a frictionless experience for both staff and guests.
